Established in April 2018 through a partnership between CIOMP and Professor Dieter Bimberg — a world-class research center dedicated to green photonics and quantum device development.
"Quantum technologies will enable more energy efficient photonics systems for a sustainable society." The center conducts application-oriented research on photonic devices and systems, driven by the actual demands of industry.
Research activities proceed through autonomous development alongside collaborations with 11 international research groups and industry partners. The center also functions as an incubator, offering advanced device processing and testing facilities to third parties on a non-competitive basis.
High bit rate and energy-efficient VCSEL systems designed for optical computer interconnects. Industry-leading performance at 100 fJ/bit and 50+ Gb/s.
Long-wavelength high-brightness beam systems for next-generation LIDAR applications. Enabling precision sensing in autonomous vehicles and environmental monitoring.
Systems engineered for future Terabit/second metropolitan area networks. Ultra-compact, low-power laser sources for next-generation optical communications.
Proprietary quantum material creation via semiconductor epitaxy, supporting all photonic technology domains and enabling breakthrough device performance.
Administrative and research offices supporting all center operations, international collaboration management, and knowledge transfer activities.
State-of-the-art ultra-high-speed measurement capabilities for photonic device characterization at frequencies supporting 50+ Gb/s data rates.
Cleanroom fabrication facility for photonic device processing. Available to third parties on a non-competitive basis against real cost refund.
The Bimberg Center is hosted by the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP), a premier research institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
This partnership combines the world-class experimental capabilities of CIOMP with the deep international expertise and global network of Prof. Bimberg and his collaborators.
